An Operating System is the software which interacts with the hardware of a PC and works as the intermediary between apps and the hardware, including peripherals such as a printer, a mouse or a keyboard. When you run software, it transmits requests to the OS using an API (Application Program Interface) and the interaction is done via a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Just like a personal computer, web hosting servers also feature an Operating System that serves as a host for the software installed on them, which includes script applications or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, etc. A virtual machine can be created on a physical one, so you can install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment in contrast to the physical server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS Hosting

We provide as many as three different Linux releases for the Operating System of our virtual private servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are among the safest and the most reliable OSs available and we offer all three instead of just one because we realize that you may want to install some software with specific requirements for the Operating System it will run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a large support community behind it and there're different software programs you can install on the server. Your OS selection will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS in case you would like to use one and because of this we offer several Control Panels too. In the event you decide that you need to have a different OS, our tech support team can quickly wipe the current one and set up the one that you need. We also offer an optional service to have the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Web Hosting

If you decide to purchase one of our dedicated servers, you will find three Operating Systems on the registration page because we want to give you a larger choice with regard to the system environment on your machine as different apps could have specific requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian come with different modules developed by their large support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and take advantage of a stable and risk-free web hosting service. Depending on your choice, you will also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always change the Operating System in case the one you have selected in the beginning does not meet the requirements of the software that you want to run. We can also update the OS on a regular basis in order to keep it as risk-free as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
